ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – Ohio’s field hockey team faced Kent State on April 16th at Pruitt Feild in a battle for conference play. Ohio came out fast and furious. They scored the only goal for the first half of the game — thanks to Katelyn Whittle.

In the second half, Kent state started to take control and began to create a league early in the first quarter. Within five minutes in the 3rd quarter, Kent State managed to score three goals and get a large lead.

The two-point lead began to look troubling for the Bobcats after going into the fourth quarter with no more goals scored. Luckily enough, freshman Tasmin Williams scored a goal to make the score 2-3. This was Williams’ first goal as a Bobcat.

Coach Ali Johnstone has very high hopes for Tasmin Williams’ future as a Bobcat.

“Tas has beautiful passing combos with her teammates,” Johnstone said.  “She is a really good playmaker and it’s so nice to see her cause she works her tail off, her hustle to come back and play defense as a four and two. So it’s nice to see her capitalize, and she’s calm and she’s skilled”.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats, there were no other goals scored. Ohio lost with a score of 2-3 to Kent State.

Ohio University will be back in action on Saturday, April 17, at Pruitt Field, facing Kent State at 3:30 p.m.
