Movie Review: “Wild”
WOUB contributor Scott Pfeiffer reviews Wild, starring Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl Strayed, a woman who, in 1995, set out to hike the spectacular-yet-punishing terrain of the Pacific Crest Trail.
The film is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, who made last year's emotional powerhouse, Dallas Buyers Club.

“An Appalachian Christmas Carol” Returns To Stuart’s Opera House
Brick Monkey Theater Ensemble, Southeast Ohio’s professional theater company, is presenting An Appalachian Christmas Carol, Dec. 17-21 at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville.
Now in its third year, this spin on the traditional ghost story and tale of redemption honors Southeast Ohio’s rich coal mining and labor union heritage, while simultaneously celebrating the spirit of the season.

Jackie O’s, Casa To Host 14th Annual Lennonfest
Many wondered what would happen with Athens' annual Lennonfest after the Nov. 16 fire that destroyed The Union Bar & Grill's upstairs room and several other businesses along West Union Street, including Jackie O's Public House.
Eric Leighton, who founded Lennonfest 14 years ago, wants to assure everyone that a splendid time is still guaranteed for all. Casa Cantina agreed to co-host this Saturday's event and Jackie O's Public House, which recently re-opened, is ready to rock once again with dozens of local musicians performing Beatles classics.

Local Group Partners With Wayne National Forest To Promote Arts
Representatives of the Athens Area Citizens for the Arts and the Wayne National Forest gathered Tuesday for a signing of a partnership agreement to contribute to a "culture of health."
