Hocking College Gallery Hosts Tim Creamer Photo Exhibit
The Hocking College Art Gallery is featuring a solo artist photography exhibit featuring Athens resident Tim Creamer.
The show, which opens on Oct. 31, features modern photography created with iPhone 4 and 5s apps, including Hipstamatic, iColorama and Snapseed.
An opening reception will also be held Oct. 31 from 6-9 p.m. during Nelsonville's Final Friday event on the Public Square.

Athens Photographer Wins at State Competition
An Athens photographer was among seven winners at the 70th Ohio Annual Exhibition, held at the Zanesville Museum of Art on Oct. 11.
Jim Shirey walked away with the First Place Photography Award, joined by six other artists specializing in watercolors, drawing, sculpture, metalsmithing, ceramics and art quilts. The museum received 175 entries from 40 cities and towns in Ohio.
Ridges Returning for OU Homecoming Bash
For many Ohio University alumni, Homecoming Weekend is a chance to reconnect with old friends, relive past glories and return to a town they called home for four years (possibly more, in some cases). For orchestral folk-rock band The Ridges, it means a few different things.
The group got their start in Athens, took their name from a local landmark and the members are made up of OU alumni and current students. This Saturday, they hope to reconnect with old friends and make new fans during a homecoming show at Casa Nueva.
Octubafest Returns This Week
Octubafest, Ohio University's month-long celebration of the tuba and euphonium, is kicking off tonight at 8 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Hall.
Since 1974, the annual event has become a mainstay at hundreds of universities around the world. It's marking its 16th year at Ohio University, due to the efforts of Jason Smith, OU associate professor of Tuba, who will be performing tonight.
Stuart’s Wraps Up Summer Concert Series, Hosts Poetry Exhibit This Friday
Stuart’s Opera House wraps up this year's Free Summer Concert Series this Friday at 7 p.m. with a performance from Portland, Oregon band Quiet Life.
In addition, Stuart's will host opening night for the poetry exhibit Water Visions: Close Writings in the 1879 Gallery.

Seun, son of the legendary Nigerian musician/activist Fela Kuti, led his father's former band through a set that incorporated jazz, funk and blues to create his own unique blend of afrobeat.

“Growing Up In Athens” Book Project Launched
A unique book project called Growing Up in Athens is being co-sponsored by the Athens Community Arts, Parks and Recreation Department and the Athens County Historical Society and Museum. The book will be a collection of hometown memories of people who grew up in or near the city of Athens. The co-sponsors are currently soliciting stories from current and former residents.
College Town Film Festival Returning to OU
After a successful run at the Athena Cinema in 2013, the College Town Film Festival returns to Athens this October, featuring documentaries, short films, guest speakers and a Monty Python classic.
Co-founded by Athens natives Eric Zudak and Matt Jordan, the College Town Film Festival is dedicated to promoting independent films and generating discussion between academic and local communities.

Guitar Hero: Marietta Musician Goes Viral with New Video
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth thousands of "likes" — at least in Brock Davisson's case.
A video of the Marietta guitarist recently appeared on the "I Discover Stars" Facebook page, which has more than a million followers. Since mid-July, the video has been shared more than 37,000 times on Facebook and viewed nearly 7,000 times on YouTube.
Athens Arts Community Remembers Bob Winters
The Athens arts community has lost one of its biggest supporters. Ohio University Professor Emeritus Robert Winters made an impact on thousands of students, friends and colleagues as an educator, artist, administrator, theater director, mentor and tireless advocate for the arts.
